Hello and welcome!
My name is Selah, and I am stoked you're here! A little about me, I grew up in California wandering around barefoot, building forts and getaways and generally causing wreaking havoc with my three brothers. As soon as I graduated high school I found myself flying across the globe to spend six months volunteering with youth in Australia. The next several years I managed to hop from place to place, nearly six months in Madagascar for more volunteering, a year and a half in Hungary to study geography (random, I know.), four months in Maui to farm and add in California a couple of times for transition periods!
My interest in health and wellness began around the age of 15 after a fencing injury had me counting calories to avoid gaining a large amount of weight. This surface level idea of health evolved over the years as I studied the incredible ways in which our bodies and souls are deeply nourished, including nutrient dense foods, time spent in nature, moments connecting with loved ones and so much more! At 18 I began my yoga journey, again, starting simply as a way to exercise and eventually morphing into the mind, body, spirit nourishment I now experience it to be. After years of practicing, I finally became certified as a yoga instructor in 2021 at a 26 day training in Mexico through the Yandara Yoga Institute. Massage came into my life after dropping out of my geography program and being at a crossroads in life. Having always been interested in birth, I decided that massage would be a great avenue to begin working with pregnant mothers. So in 2018 my bodywork journey began. I graduated from the Santa Barbara Body Therapy Institute with 550+ hours, having many modalities including: Swedish, deep-tissue, pregnancy, chi nei tsang, myofascial release, reflexology, acupressure and more. Since graduating I have also expanded my bodywork knowledge by studying Arvigo Technique® Maya Abdominal Therapy, a technique that supports the health of the pelvic and abdominal organs and addresses symptoms such as painful or irregular menstruation, infertility, endometriosis, low back pain, PMS, difficult menopause, displaced uterus as well as helps to prepare mothers for birth. In addition to teaching yoga and working with this bodywork modalities, I am also currently in training to be a postpartum doula. Outside of nerding out health and wellness, you can often find me cooking up some new creation in the kitchen, wandering around barefoot outside, climbing with friends or curled up with a good book. Life is good!
